Scorching Heat Grips City, Highest Temperatures Recorded in Pune-Koregaon Section

Pune – March 29, 2024: As summer tightens its grip on Pune, residents are feeling the full force of the season’s heat, with temperatures soaring to unprecedented levels. The Pune-Koregaon section has emerged as the hottest spot, recording a maximum temperature of 40.9 degrees Celsius. The Pune-Shirur area closely follows with 40.8 degrees Celsius, while Pune-NDA registers 39.1 degrees Celsius. Pune-Pashan and Pune-Shivajinagar are not far behind, with maximum temperatures of 39.1 degrees Celsius, making March 29 one of the hottest days in recent memory.

The IMD also issued a Yellow Alert for the next 48 hours in Districts of Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Nasik, Sangli, Solapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim& Yavatmal. Pune is partly cloudy and Chance of very light rain cannot b ruled out. Be safe.

According to data from the Indian Meteorological Department, the mercury is expected to continue its ascent in the coming days. The forecast for March 29 to April 04 predicts maximum temperatures ranging between 40 degrees Celsius and 39 degrees Celsius across all sections of Pune. The sky is anticipated to remain mainly clear, with a possibility of becoming partly cloudy towards the afternoon or evening on March 29 and March 30, before returning to clear conditions for the remainder of the week.

Experts warn that the prolonged heatwave poses significant health risks to Pune’s residents. With temperatures expected to remain high, they advise taking necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. Staying hydrated, seeking shade during peak hours, and avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day are among the recommended measures to stay safe during this period of extreme heat.

Local authorities are also urging residents to be vigilant and watch out for vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and children, who are more susceptible to heat-related ailments.
