Pune: Tamhini Ghat area records 210 mm of rainfall in 24 Hours

Pune: Heavy rainfall continues to batter Pune city and its surrounding areas. On Friday, the region witnessed intense downpours, with the Ghat section of the district recording the highest rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, Tamhini Ghat and Shirgaon received more than 200mm of rain in the past 24 hours.

As per the data from the Meteorological Department, the Tamhini Ghat area received 210 mm of rainfall, while Shirgaon recorded 209 mm in the same period. Lavasa and Lonavala also experienced substantial rainfall, with Lavasa receiving 105.5mm and Lonavala recording 94.5mm in the last 24 hours.

The forecast suggests the likelihood of further rainfall in Pune over the next few days. As a result, an orange alert has been issued for Saturday, while a yellow alert has been issued for the subsequent two days. Heavy rain is expected in isolated areas of the Ghat region in the Pune district on Saturday, with the possibility of very heavy rain on July 2 and July 3, 2023. The department has advised citizens to avoid travelling in the Ghat area during this period.
