The state teachers eligibility test has been postponed and is likely to be conducted in July due to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. The exact date is yet to be announced. Conducted by the Maharashtra State Council Of Examination, TET is conducted in the month of May every year. Six lakh teachers write the examination which is compulsory by the education department. The exam has two papers for teachers for classes III to V and the other for classes VI to VIII. A candidate is made to write both the levels if he has to become a teacher.

Nandkumar Bedse, director, exam council said, “Our plan to hold the exam online couldnt be achieved due to technical difficulties. The model code of conduct was announced and we could not proceed with the tender process. The council had decided to hold the exam online to curb malpractices.
