Pune: Thieves Strike Around Garware Metro Station, Steal Mobiles From College Youths

A brazen incident of theft occurred at the Garware Metro station area on Karve road in the early hours of Thursday (August 15). Four unidentified thieves on a two-wheeler targeted three college youths, threatening and abusing them before making off with their mobile phones.

According to the complaint filed by one of the victims at the Deccan police station, the incident took place around 4 am when he and his two friends were walking down Karve road. The thieves, who were on a two-wheeler, stopped them near the Garware Metro station and demanded one of their mobile phones to make a call.

When the youths refused, the thieves threatened and abused them, forcing them to hand over their mobiles. The thieves then escaped with three mobile sets, leaving the youths shaken.

The Deccan police have registered a case against the thieves and are investigating the incident. Police Sub-Inspector Dattatraya Jadhav is leading the probe.
