Pune : Three people duped of 27 lakhs in three different cases in city

Pune: Three people in Pune fell prey to online scams and have been duped of Rs 27 Lakh 46 thousand in total in three different cases. The victims were lured under the pretext of earning quick money. The cases were filed at three different police stations on June 28.

Case Filed in Chandan Nagar Police Station

As per the information given by Rajendra Landage, Police Inspector, Chandan Nagar Police Station, the victim, Uttam Shankar Kamble, resident of Chandannagar, received a message that he could earn Rs 5 to 50 thousand per day. Firstly, the fraudster told Kamble to register for the tasks and pay Rs 6 Lakh 15 thousand. After paying the amount and completing initial tasks, Kamble was paid handsome money. With this, the fraudster gained his trust. Then, the fraudulent, after giving Kamble some other online tasks viz prepaid task and VIP task, vanished with the registration amount and did not contact Kamble at all. After realizing that he had been cheated, Kamble immediately registered a complaint at Chandan Nagar police station. Chandan Nagar Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.

Case Filed in Pune Cyber Cell

As per information from Kumar Ghadge, Police Inspector, Pune Cyber Cell, the victim, Nandu Krishnan, resident of Wagholi, was assigned a task by an online fraudster of giving ratings and reviews on Google Maps. Initially, a good amount of money was paid to the victim. The victim paid Rs 17 Lakh 75 Thousand for entering and doing these tasks. Then, after receiving the registration money, the fraudster did not keep any contact with the victim and fled with the money. As a result, Nandu Krishnan complained against the fraudster in Pune cyber cell and a case has been registered. Further investigation is going on.

Case Filed in Kothrud Police Station

As per information from Hemant Patil, Police Inspector, Kothrud Police Station, the victim, Omkar Naresh Garudkar, resident of Kothrud, was contacted by an online fraudster. The fraudster lured him into an online task of liking videos on YouTube for which, in return, the victim will get a lot of money. An amount of Rs 3 Lakh 56 Thousand was already taken from the victim for the tasks. When Omkar realized that he wasn’t getting paid for doing the tasks, he filed a complaint at Kothrud Police Station. Further investigation is being conducted by the Kothrud Police.
