Pune: Traffic Chaos In NIBM–Kausarbaugh Area As Illegal Parking And Lack Of Enforcement Cause Major Congestion
Pune, March 8, 2026: Residents and commuters in the NIBM–Kausarbaugh area are facing severe traffic chaos due to widespread illegal parking and the absence of traffic police enforcement, leading to long delays and growing frustration among locals.
On March 7, late in the evening the traffic came to a halt with no sight of decongestion until the local residents stepped in to clear the traffic. The residents are tired of complaining to the authorities as there seems to be no permanent solution to the growing problem.
According to residents, traffic in the area has come to a near standstill during peak hours. Vehicles are reportedly being parked indiscriminately along the roads, resulting in double and even triple parking in several stretches. In many places, cars are also parked on pavements and footpaths, leaving no space for pedestrians to walk safely.
Locals say that vehicles are also being parked directly in front of the entrance gates of residential societies, causing inconvenience to residents who struggle to enter or exit their premises. The situation has become particularly difficult for senior citizens, children, and pedestrians who are forced to walk on the roads due to blocked pavements.
Residents further allege that there is hardly any visible presence of traffic police in the area to regulate the flow of vehicles or take action against violators. Earlier, Senior Police Inspector Maya Devare had assured residents that strict action would be taken against rule-breaking vehicles and that illegally parked vehicles would be towed away. However, locals claim that no significant action has been seen so far.
The traffic congestion has also led to continuous honking by frustrated motorists, resulting in high levels of noise pollution throughout the day. Residents say the constant honking and disorderly traffic reflect a complete lack of civic discipline and disregard for public convenience.
Citizens are now urging authorities to immediately deploy traffic personnel, enforce parking rules, and take strict action against violators to restore order and ensure pedestrian safety in the NIBM–Kausarbaugh area.
