Pune Traffic Cop Injured After Being Dragged 100 Meters by Biker Without Number Plates; Rider Arrested
A traffic policeman in Pune sustained injuries after being dragged for approximately 100 meters by a biker he had stopped for riding without a number plate. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the Hadapsar Industrial Estate area.
The officer, identified as Chetan Sulakhe from the Loni Kalbhor traffic division, was on duty when he noticed 34-year-old Hrutik Prakash Hingne riding a motorcycle without any registration plates. When Sulakhe requested to see Hingne’s driving license, Hingne suddenly accelerated, dragging the officer along with him.
Following the incident, Sulakhe lodged a complaint, leading to Hingne’s arrest. He has been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty), Section 121 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant during duty), and Section 281 (rash driving), along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Assistant Police Inspector Vilas Sutar, the investigating officer, confirmed that Hingne, a resident of Hingne Mala in Hadapsar, has been sent to Yerwada Jail as per the court’s order.
