Pune, April 15, 2026: The Pune Traffic Police has announced a special drive to identify and remove abandoned, unused, and improperly parked vehicles from public roads across the city, starting April 15, 2026.
According to officials, the initiative aims to ease traffic congestion and improve road safety by clearing vehicles that have been lying unattended for long periods. As part of the drive, such vehicles will be identified and issued notices.
If a vehicle owner fails to respond within 24 hours of receiving the notice, it will be classified as abandoned. Further action will be initiated within 48 hours, and the vehicle will be seized by authorities.
Officials also stated that penalties will be imposed by the Pune Municipal Corporation. The vehicle will only be released after the applicable fine is paid by the owner.
The traffic police have urged citizens to actively participate in the drive by reporting abandoned or unused vehicles in their locality through the PTP App.
Authorities emphasized that public cooperation is essential to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure safer roads in Pune. The drive is expected to address long-standing issues of road encroachment caused by unattended vehicles and improve overall traffic management in the city.
