Lonavala, December 7, 2024 – A tragic boat accident at Pavana Dam in Maval Taluka on Wednesday evening claimed the lives of two young men after their boat overturned. The police have filed negligence charges against the owner of the bungalow and the boat involved in the incident.

The deceased, Tushar Ahire and Mayur Bharsake, had come to the Pavana Dam backwater area with friends on December 4. They were staying at the “Lake Escape Villa,” a bungalow situated near the backwaters with direct access to the reservoir.

Details of the Incident

According to the police, the two victims, along with a friend, took a boat owned by Sumati Viva into the reservoir. Unfortunately, the boat capsized, throwing Tushar and Mayur into the deep waters. Lacking an understanding of the water’s depth, both men drowned.

Tushar Ahire’s family later filed a complaint with the Lonavala Rural Police, holding the bungalow and boat owners responsible for negligence in providing safety measures.
