Pune, April 22, 2026: Two traffic police personnel from Pune City have been suspended after allegations surfaced that they collected money from motorists directly into their personal bank accounts instead of issuing official challans.

The action was taken by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav after a video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting an internal inquiry.

The suspended officials have been identified as police constables Ankush Rama Pawar and Laxman Balaji Ramgade, both attached to the Sahakarnagar traffic division.

According to police sources, the incident occurred on April 19 at Sharda Arcade Chowk, where the personnel were on duty taking action against two-wheeler riders who had allegedly jumped a traffic signal. During the enforcement drive, one of the motorists recorded the interaction and later shared the video online, claiming that money was being collected unlawfully.

Following the viral video, senior officers initiated an investigation and recorded statements from both constables. The inquiry found that the two had accepted ₹500 each from three motorists through online transfers made to their personal bank accounts, instead of following the official penalty procedure.

Taking serious note of the misconduct, authorities held the personnel accountable for indiscipline, negligence, and damaging the reputation of the police department. Based on these findings, DCP Himmat Jadhav ordered their immediate suspension.

Officials reiterated that strict action will be taken against any violations of protocol, and urged citizens to report such incidents through proper channels.
