Pune , 30 April 2024 – For the first time in twenty years, Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena party, will hold his first meeting this evening at Warje. The meeting had taken place earlier at Singhgad Road during the 2004 assembly elections.

Thackeray’s previous meeting place was the Mohite township, which is located along Sinhagad Road near Anandnagar. Sharad Dhamale, the Shiv Sena’s candidate for the Mulshi assembly, won at that time. Following constituency realignment, a camp of Shiv Sena office-bearers from Western Maharashtra was subsequently arranged in 2009 at a hotel in the Warje neighbourhood of Chandni Chowk.

In the reorganization of constituencies, Shiv Sena traded Guhagar for the BJP’s Khadakwasla seat. Thus, Uddhav Thackeray stopped hosting meetings in the Khadakwasla constituency after 2004. Despite not having a Lok Sabha seat, the Shiv Sena has a sizable network of functionaries in this country.

In the 2014 assembly elections, Shiv Sena put forward Shyam Deshpande as its candidate. At that time, representatives from every city constituency gathered at Tilak Road for a meeting. But there is a sizable Shiv Sena workforce in the Khadakwasla constituency thanks to Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s network. In the last five years, the Khadakwasla constituency has elected three Panchayat Samiti members. One Zilla Parishad constituency saw a close loss. Tomorrow, Thackeray is scheduled to attend the Baramati Lok Sabha candidate Supriya Sule’s campaign meeting.
