Pune: Wagholi’s Roads Turn Into A Nightmare: Residents Question PMC Over ₹10 Lakh Missing Funds
Pune, July 7, 2025: While Pune is being hailed as a “Smart City,” the condition of roads in Wagholi paints a completely different picture. Residents of major housing societies such as AWHO Vijay Vihar, Primera Homes, and Rohan Abhilasha, which are now under Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) jurisdiction, are left to navigate pothole-ridden, waterlogged streets with no proper drainage system.
The road connecting Wagholi, Lohegaon Road, the Fire Station, AWHO Vijay Vihar, More Corner, and Rohan Abhilasha has turned into a living nightmare. Mud, stagnant water, and deep craters have made daily commuting an ordeal for locals.
What makes the situation even more disheartening is that AWHO Vijay Vihar houses several retired Army personnel who have dedicated their lives to serving the nation. Today, these veterans feel helpless in their own city, highlighting what they call a “failure of the civic administration.”
Residents, supported by Team WACO, have raised serious concerns about PMC’s inefficiency and alleged corruption. A year ago, PMC had approved ₹10 lakh for repairing and asphalting this road, as displayed on an official board in the area. However, not a single repair has been carried out so far.
“Where has the ₹10 lakh gone? Why is the road still in such a pathetic condition? Is this mere negligence or an open case of corruption?” questioned the residents.
Key Demands by the Residents:
- Immediate repair and asphalting of the road.
- Proper drainage and water discharge system to prevent waterlogging.
- Accountability from PMC officials regarding the delay.
- Public disclosure of how the sanctioned ₹10 lakh fund was utilized.
- The residents have given PMC a one-month deadline to start work, failing which they have warned of launching a peaceful protest in a constitutional manner.
“This isn’t just about bad roads; it’s about the dignity and safety of citizens. PMC must act now,” said a team WACO representative.
