Pune: Wakad Police recovers 22 stolen vehicles, Two suspects arrested

Pune: In a successful operation, the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate has arrested two individuals involved in a series of two-wheeler thefts.

Wakad police played a crucial role in this achievement, recovering a total of 22 stolen two-wheelers with an estimated value of 15 lakh 40 thousand rupees.

The arrested culprits have been identified as Omkar Dilip Gaware (23) from Pimpale Saudagar and Mahesh Mahadev Danane (21) from Pimpri. It has come to light that a minor was also involved in the criminal activities.

As per information, there was an increase in the incidents of two-wheeler thefts within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. As a result, the police increased their patrolling efforts throughout the city. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Gaware and Danane, known for their involvement in two-wheeler thefts in Pune district and the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, the Wakad police set up a well-executed trap that led to the arrest of the suspects at Thergaon.

During a press conference held on Friday, Dr Kakasaheb Dole, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2), stated that the Wakad police meticulously planned the operation, which resulted in catching the suspects. During the interrogation, the accused confessed to being responsible for 22 separate incidents. As a result, the police were able to recover and seize the 22 stolen two-wheelers, collectively valued at 15 lakh 40 thousand rupees.

Dr Dole also revealed that the accused had sold some of the stolen bikes to their relatives, leading to the identification and booking of three individuals involved in purchasing the stolen vehicles.
