Pune Weather : IMD issues yellow alert for five days in Maharashtra

Yet again, Pune city is experiencing lightning and thunder. The Indian Meteorological Department, Pune issued a statement sharing the weather forecast. 

Today, on April 16, Pune and Satara district will experience thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and light to moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 30-50 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of *Pune & Satara* during next 3-4 hours. Possibility of hail at isolated places. Take precautions while moving out. 

The low moisture belt created yesterday between the north eastern side of Jharkhand to Tamil Nadu has reached south central Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu today. Also, there is moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, which has created moisture in the atmosphere and led to increase in humidity.  

IMD Pune also issued advisory for various parts of Maharashtra. 

April 16 – 17 – Dry climate 

April  18 to 20 – Light rainfall in Konkan area 

April 16 to 20 – Light rainfall Vidarbha and Marathwada 

April 16 to 20 – Yellow alert in Maharashtra 

In Pune, April 16 to19 – Partly clear sky in the morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon, light to very light rainfall

April 20 – Partly clear sky in the morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon and light rainfall 

Indian Meteorological Department issued Impact Based Advisory :

Avoid stepping out in afternoons to preclude instances of heat exhaustion and dehydration.

During the times of gusty ( *strong*) winds, people should remove any plant pots from windows/ balcony railings, as strong winds can push them off the sill or railing injuring residents. This could even be fatal for somebody.

Not to take shelter under trees during thundery activity.

Avoid using mobile phones and unplug electronic appliances during period of lightning.

Keep windows and doors closed during periods of strong wind.

Avoid travel during times of strong wind/lightning.

Drive slowly as visibility may reduce and roads may be slippery due to the rain spells.
