Pune, July 13, 2024: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rain in the ghat areas of Pune district until July 17. According to Vineet Kumar, a scientist at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune, the city has received 289.9 mm of rainfall since the monsoon onset on June 1, which is 72.1 mm above normal.

IMD Forecast Details:

  • July 13-14: Heavy rain expected at isolated places in the ghat areas, while the city will experience cloudy skies with occasional light to moderate rain.
  • July 15-17: Heavy to very heavy rainfall predicted at isolated places in the ghat areas. The city will continue to see cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate rain.

  • Temperature: Ranging between 21 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius.
  • Relative Humidity: Expected to be around 86%.
  • Wind Speed: Approximately 86 km/h.

Vineet Kumar shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Pune can expect typical monsoon-style rain until July 19, with minimal sunshine during this period. He added that the Pune ghats would experience very heavy rain until July 18. Kumar also mentioned that the neighbouring city of Pimpri-Chinchwad would have good rainy days until July 19.
