Pune Weather Update: City to Experience Temperature Drop as February Heat Wave Ends
Pune: The city is set to experience a significant drop in minimum temperatures, with the mercury expected to fall to around 13°C in the coming days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This shift follows an unusually warm start to February, where both day and night temperatures remained 4-5°C above the normal range.
IMD Pune’s senior meteorologist, said that the temperature might dip would begin from February 14. “The minimum temperature will drop to about 13°C, providing some relief from the recent warm weather. Another decrease is likely towards the end of the month,” he said.
The warm spell across Pune and other parts of Maharashtra was due to weakened western disturbances and changing wind patterns. Southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea pushed temperatures up, but cooler northern winds are now expected to bring back winter-like nights.
The temperature drop will affect Pune and the north-central regions of Maharashtra, where night temperatures could fall by 2-4°C between February 12 and 14.
Residents can expect cooler nights and a brief respite from the heat before summer sets in. Experts advise people to stay updated with weather forecasts and prepare for fluctuating temperatures as February progresses.
