Pune Weather Update: Light rain predicted in parts of Maharashtra in 2 to 3 hours

IMD: Chance of rain with thunder in the next 3 days, weather forecast update The Meteorological Department has forecasted light rain (Rain Alert) in certain areas of Maharashtra until January 9. Over the next three days, isolated places in the state might experience rain accompanied by thunder. Many regions are expected to witness light rain and cloudy weather. As per the IMD forecast, January 7 will bring cloudy weather to the state with a chance of rain in isolated places such as Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik, Jalgaon, and Ahmednagar areas. On January 8, there's a potential for heavy rain in Dhule and Nandurbar, leading the Meteorological Department to issue a yellow alert for rain. Chance of rain today As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, light rains were forecast for various parts of Maharashtra including Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar in North Maharashtra on Saturday. Accordingly, the region witnessed the presence of rain on Saturday. Sporadic showers of rain are expected in this area today. An active low pressure area over the Southwest Arabian Sea and the formation of vapor clouds extending northward from North Konkan are affecting the weather.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rainfall in the next 2 to 3 hours for many districts of Maharashtra.

As per further information from an IMD advisory at 2 pm today, over the next two to three hours, there’s a good chance that sporadic light rain showers will fall in isolated areas of the districts of Hingoli, Parbhani, Beed, Ahmednagar, Pune, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur. In certain locations, there may be a chance of thunder and lightning along with strong winds. When you’re moving out, exercise caution.’

On Sunday evening, Pune experienced a brief period of rain accompanied by sporadic thunder and lightning.

Within a 30-minute on Sunday, the Shivajinagar observatory of the IMD documented a rainfall of 2.8 mm. In the same duration, Magarpatta, Lavale, and Chinchwad experienced rainfall measuring 2 mm, 1.5 mm, and 1 mm respectively.

Interestingly, the rural areas of Pune witnessed more intense showers. Khed received the highest rainfall with 32.5 mm, followed by Ambegaon with 20 mm and Narayangaon with 10 mm.
