Pune: Woman Bites Police Officer At Baner Police Station, Threatens To Die By Suicide
An incident at a bar in Pune drew attention after two intoxicated individuals reportedly created a disturbance, leading to a confrontation with police officers. The event took place on the night of March 3 at Agent Jack bar in Balewadi and continued into the early hours of March 4 at Baner police station. The individuals involved have been identified as 24-year-old Mansi Champalal Pariharya and 24-year-old Yuvraj Nilesh Paratani, both originally from Haryana and currently working in Pune.
According to police, the duo visited the bar for a party but got into an argument with other patrons after consuming alcohol. When officers arrived to handle the situation, the pair allegedly argued with the police and created a scene when CCTV footage of the incident was requested.
At the Baner police station, the aggressive behavior continued. During the confrontation, Pariharya reportedly grabbed the uniform of a female sub-inspector, verbally abused her, and bit her on the right hand. Paratani allegedly threatened the officers, claiming he could have them removed from their positions.
Police added that Pariharya also threatened to commit suicide and warned she would leave a note holding the police responsible.
Following the incident, Baner police registered cases against both individuals on charges including obstructing government work, assaulting a public servant, and verbal abuse of officers. Police sub-inspector Pathare is leading the investigation.
Reports indicate that after the bar dispute, Pariharya demanded immediate access to CCTV footage, which the bar management said could only be provided the next day as the control unit was located in Mumbai. When the officers requested the duo come to the station to file a complaint, they reportedly abused the police.
At the station, the officers advised the individuals to undergo a medical examination. Both refused and continued creating a disturbance. Pariharya allegedly confronted the female sub-inspector, saying, “Who are you to speak to me like this?” before pulling her uniform and biting her hand, while threatening, “I will die by suicide and hold Baner Police Station and all of you responsible.”
Paratani also reportedly threatened the officers, stating, “I will show you my power and destroy you.” The duo mentioned that they would return after seeking medical treatment the next morning, but so far, neither has returned to the police station.
