A routine visit to settle overdue payments took a terrifying turn for a 40-year-old woman in Pune, when she was attacked by a pet dog following a heated argument. The incident unfolded at around 9:50 AM on June 30th at the residence of Jyoti Raghunath Shirke and her nephew Mihir Shirke in Gandhinagar, Yerwada.

According to the victim’s complaint lodged with the Yerwada police, she visited the Shirke residence to demand money owed to her by a self-help group. Instead of a resolution, she faced verbal abuse from Jyoti and Mihir. The situation escalated drastically when they allegedly unleashed their pet dog on her.

The dog attacked the woman multiple times on her right hand, causing severe bleeding. Shockingly, when she pleaded for assistance, the accused purportedly locked her out of the house, leaving her in distress. Despite her injuries, the resilient woman managed to extricate herself and promptly reported the incident to the Yerwada police. She subsequently sought medical attention at Sassoon Hospital.

In response to her complaint, the Yerwada police have filed a case against Jyoti and Mihir Shirke. Additionally, concerns about the dog’s behavior have prompted the police to inform the Municipal Health Department for further action regarding the animal’s health and safety.

This troubling incident has not occurred in isolation, as the police have also received multiple complaints alleging financial fraud perpetrated by the accused. Apparently, Jyoti and Mihir Shirke have been accused of deceiving several women by taking money under the guise of a self-help group.

As the investigation unfolds, the Yerwada police are delving deeper into the circumstances surrounding this shocking attack. The community remains on edge as they await justice for the victim and seek reassurances regarding public safety amidst these unsettling developments.
