Pune: Woman Impersonating Lawyer Held For Cheating Senior Citizen In Loni Kalbhor, Caught Taking Bribe
A 32-year-old woman has been arrested by Loni Kalbhor Police for posing as a lawyer and allegedly extorting money from an elderly man by threatening him with false legal claims. The accused, Snehal Harishchandra Kamble, was nabbed while accepting a ₹15,000 bribe from the victim at her office in a Gram Panchayat-owned shop in Loni Kalbhor.
The victim, Bapurao Kadu Satpute (63), was misled into believing that Kamble could help him obtain a legal separation from his daughter-in-law. Taking advantage of his illiteracy, she repeatedly demanded money over a month without delivering any service.
Kamble escalated the fraud by falsely claiming that the victim was facing rape and assault charges, allegedly filed by his daughter-in-law with the Women’s Commission. She claimed bribes were needed to “settle” the matter with police and court officials.
Distressed, Satpute approached senior police officials, prompting a sting operation led by Senior Inspector Rajendra Panhale. Kamble was caught red-handed accepting the bribe. Further investigation uncovered suspicious documents at her residence, indicating possible involvement in more such cases.
