Pune: Women’s Safety Concerns Rise Over Public Drinking On Salunke Vihar Road
Pune, May 15, 2026: Concerns over women’s safety and public nuisance have resurfaced in the Salunke Vihar area after residents reported open consumption of liquor and littering near a wine shop on Salunke Vihar Road.
According to local residents, several individuals were allegedly seen consuming alcohol openly in broad daylight near the vicinity of Archana Wines. Empty liquor bottles were also reportedly discarded in public spaces, creating inconvenience for pedestrians and nearby residents.
Citizens expressed concern that such activities not only spoil the cleanliness of the area but also pose a threat to the safety and comfort of women and families regularly using the road.
Following complaints received by Pune Pulse, officials from the Kondhwa Police Station were informed about the situation. Police officials reportedly assured residents that prompt action would be taken against those involved in public drinking and nuisance activities.
Residents have urged authorities to increase patrolling in the area and take strict action to prevent repeated incidents.
