Pune : Wrestlers hired from MP to Kill Brother-in-law over property fight 

The alarming incident unfolded late in the night on February 2, along Apte Road in the city. The victim, whose identity remains concealed by authorities for safety reasons, was viciously assaulted as he prepared to shutter his shop. Two assailants, after posing an innocuous query, flung chilli powder into his eyes before launching a brutal attack with sharp weapons, leaving him severely wounded before fleeing the scene.

Police confirmed the victim sustained grave injuries in the assault.

The apprehended culprits have been identified as Mahesh Mahadev Thombare and Faisal Khan, nabbed by the city’s crime branch unit 1 on Saturday.

Subsequently, a Deccan police squad journeyed to Madhya Pradesh, arresting Faisal Rain, Arbaaz Khan, and Mohamad Sohel Mohamad Jahir Khan, alleged accomplices aiding the assailants. Thombre was later arrested following intensive investigations and CCTV footage scrutiny in the area.

During interrogation, it emerged that Aswinikumar Patil orchestrated the deadly assault on his brother-in-law, remunerating the wrestlers with ₹50,000 for their nefarious deed.

Sayyad Shabbir, police inspector of crime branch unit 1, disclosed, “Long-standing disputes over ancestral property between the victim and accused Patil triggered this heinous act, with a formal complaint lodged at Deccan police station.” “Patil likely contracted the assailants to execute the victim,” added Shabbir.

A case has been lodged at Deccan police station under sections 307, 324, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
