The Yerawada Metro Station is all set to be functional by the month of May as per the statement given by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). The Maha Metro officials confirmed the news on Tuesday and said that the construction of the entry and exit points of the metro station are on the verge of completion.

The deadline has been set for the end of April, as by that time the entry and exit points will be revised and the construction will be given a proper finishing. A Maha Metro official stated that they plan to complete the construction by the end of this month and they will shortly be inviting the CMRS team for the verification and approval of the metro station around the time of May. Only after receiving a go-ahead sign from the CMRS authorities, will they open the metro station for public use to ensure that safety is maintained and all the procedures are followed correctly.

Earlier, when the entry and exit points were constructed, the local residents of Yerawada expressed their discontentment over the construction. They found it to be faulty and unsafe and raised a complaint at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). As a result, the PMC took matters into their own hands and suggested the reconstruction of the entry and exit points of the metro station.

The Maha Metro further requested the Pune Railway Authorities for the allowance of constructing a ticket kiosk at the entrance of Platform Number One. A ticket kiosk is a self service electronic ticket dispenser which handles ticket sales via an automated system. It is more efficient and simple than traditional live ticket counters.
