The opening of the Yerawada Metro station along the Ruby Hall-Ramwadi stretch is facing a delay of at least one month due to ongoing construction, as confirmed by Maha Metro officials.

In response to concerns raised by the public regarding potential traffic congestion, Maha Metro is in the process of modifying the entrance and exit points of the station.

Efforts to commence work on the Ruby Hall-Ramwadi Metro segment have prompted the government to seek permission from the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s offices.

The necessary safety inspections for this section have already been conducted by the commissioner of Metro rail safety.

Out of the four stations along the route, Maha Metro intends to open Bund Garden, Kalyaninagar, and Ramwadi for commuters initially.

A senior Maha Metro official has affirmed preparations for the initiation of Metro services along the route. Teams are actively engaged in scheduling, recruitment, procuring rolling stock, and other essential tasks to ensure seamless services up to Ramadan. The commencement of operations is contingent upon government approval.

The scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the city on February 19, intended to inaugurate several infrastructure projects including the new terminal building for Pune airport and the Ruby Hall-Ramwadi Metro section, awaits confirmation. Sources within the BJP’s city unit have yet to receive updates regarding the PM’s revised itinerary.

As the Lok Sabha elections draw nearer and the announcement of the election code of conduct looms, the government is expected to greenlight the extension of Metro services up to Ramwadi in the coming days.
