Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP) has launched an ambitious initiative to inspire young minds in science and technology by providing 75 students with the opportunity to visit NASA and ISRO during the 2025-26 academic year.

Under this program, 25 students will travel to NASA in the United States, while 50 will visit ISRO’s advanced facilities in India. The initiative is open to students from Classes V to VIII in ZP schools, with selections being conducted by the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA). Approximately 58,000 students will participate in the rigorous screening process to secure a spot on these prestigious visits.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Pune ZP CEO Gajanan Patil stated, “Many of our students come from rural areas with limited exposure to science and technology. This program will motivate them to dream big and explore new frontiers.”

The project is financially backed by the District Planning Committee, with ₹1 crore allocated in the Pune ZP’s 2025-26 budget under the Educational Quality Development section. Additional CEO Chandrakant Waghmare confirmed the funding, emphasizing its role in enhancing students’ scientific exposure.
