Pune, Feb 8: The free Wi-Fi service provided by Pune Smart City at 200 locations, including parks, major roads, tourist spots, and municipal buildings, will be temporarily suspended for a few days.

The decision comes as Pune Smart City is undergoing structural changes, with various projects being transferred to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) following the Smart City project’s closure. The PMC will now oversee the service and implement necessary technical upgrades before resuming operations.

Citizens have been using this free Wi-Fi service for several years, benefiting from uninterrupted internet access at key locations such as Jangli Maharaj Road, Gopal Krishna Gokhale Road, Sambhaji Garden, Pune Municipal Headquarters, and regional offices. The technical improvements are expected to take 15 to 20 days, after which the service will be reinstated.

Ganesh Sonune, an official from the Disaster Management Department, confirmed to Pune Pulse that the work is being undertaken to address user issues and enhance the service quality.

During this period, citizens may face internet connectivity disruptions at public locations. However, the PMC assures that the service will be restored soon with improved functionality.
