Pune's Zomato Delivery Hero: How Datta Shinde Overcame Disability to Earn Rs 50,000 a Month
Pune – In a world where many are defined by limitations, Datta Ankushrao Shinde is breaking barriers and setting new benchmarks of resilience and determination. A Zomato delivery agent in Pune, Datta earns Rs 50,000 a month – despite having lost both his legs.
“Believe in yourself and never lose courage,” Datta says a mantra he lives by. His story is a remarkable tale of self-belief and perseverance, inspiring people across the country.
A Journey of Grit
Datta hails from a modest family in Jalna. Life took a devastating turn, one that could have broken anyone. But instead of giving up, Datta chose to fight. “People said I couldn’t do anything. I had to show them that I could,” he asserts.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree, Datta struggled to find employment. “Since I was poor, no one was hiring me,” he recalls. Despite these challenges, he refused to give up. He moved to Pune a year ago, determined to build a life of dignity on his own terms.
Two Jobs, One Dream
Today, Datta works two jobs. He delivers for Zomato for eight hours a day and does data entry work for six more. He earns ₹35,000 from Zomato and ₹15,000 from data entry, totaling ₹50,000 a month.
“I don’t beg, I work hard. I earn everything with my own effort,” he says proudly. His drive stems from a desire to prove his worth to himself and those who once doubted him.
Support and Gratitude
Datta credits his family for their unwavering support and dreams of buying a car so they can travel comfortably. He’s also grateful to Zomato for giving him a chance when few others did.
“Zomato has given jobs to many people in Pune, including disabled individuals like me,” he says. “I’m thankful they made my life stable.”
A Call for Greater Inclusion
While he appreciates Zomato’s inclusivity, Datta believes more companies in Maharashtra need to step up and offer employment to the disabled. “In my two years of experience, I’ve seen very few companies doing enough,” he notes.
Everyday Inspiration
Datta’s work as a delivery agent brings him in contact with people across the city. Many are inspired by his determination and courage. “People see me and feel motivated. They tell me they too can achieve their goals,” he shares.
He also praises Pune residents for their kindness. “Many come downstairs to collect their orders when they see me. It means a lot.”
A Message of Hope
Datta hopes to inspire other disabled individuals to pursue employment and independence. “I want to tell them don’t lose hope. Keep trying. You can do it,” he says.
His story is a shining example of how courage, hard work, and self-belief can overcome even the most difficult challenges.
