Amol Patil, a resident of Gokhale Nagar and an environment activist said, “Pune Municipal Corporation needs to safeguard trees before monsoon. If branches of trees are trimmed properly then there are fewer chances of tress falling during monsoon.”

The most affected areas were Dhanori, Aundh, Bhavani Peth, Hadapsar, Kothrud, Somawar Peth, Pashan, Ghorpadi Peth, and Dattawadi.

Ashok Ghorpade, PMC garden department chief, said, “As the tree authority has been decentralised, I direct the callers to the respective ward offices. It is them who have to ensure that the trees are well-trimmed before the monsoon.”
