Ratnagiri : Death toll rises to 8 in Dapoli – Harne accident

Ratnagiri June 26 : The death toll in the Dapoli-Harne accident in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district rose to 8 on Monday after three more persons succumbed to their Injuries, The mishap happened after a truck collided head-on with an autorickshaw near Harne on Sunday evening. 

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who expressed his condolences, announced Rs 5 lakh each for the relatives of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He also sought details of the incident from district Guardian Minister Uday Samant. He has also given instructions to the administration to provide proper medical treatment to the injured at government expense. Four passengers, including two girls, and the autorickshaw driver died on the spot after the accident. The incident occurred involving Anil (Bobby) and his Tumtum (autorickshaw) vehicle bearing MH-08 5208. The vehicle was transporting 14 passengers from Dapoli to Anjarle when it approached a turn near Asood. Unfortunately, during this turn, a collision took place between the tumtum and a truck. The collision occurred as the truck driver attempted a U-turn while the tumtum was approaching from the opposite direction.
