Pune, June 26, 2023 : Residents of Aurum Elementto Housing Society in Lohegaon are worried as the water logging issues are intensifying day by day.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dhiraj Dahale, Chairman of Aurum Elementto Housing Society, Lohegaon said, “I have been living in Aurum Elementto Housing Society for the past 10 years. The land on which the society is built is on a very low level. Hence, water from adjoining areas gets accumulated in our society. Water logging has happened in our society 4 times now, however,  Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) hasn’t taken any action yet.

During the Covid pandemic, a lot of water entered the society. People from the fire department came and only inspected the issue. We spent money from our own pockets and arranged for proper equipment to get the water out. There are 250 flats in the society and all of them are facing this issue. The height of the water is so much that even vehicles of various residents have almost drowned. We have talked to the PMC a lot of times but nothing has happened yet.”

Sunil Tingre, MLA Vadgaon Sheri constituency, Pune, said “The PMC hasn’t made any plans as of now to tackle water logging in Lohegaon as the area has been recently included in the PMC. The DP of that area isn’t planned yet. However, we will take a note of the water logging issue and discuss it with PMC to chalk out an effective plan.”
