Red Light? Who Cares! Dashcam Captures Shocking Traffic Violations In Pune
Traffic congestion and violations continue to trouble Pune. From bikers refusing to wear helmets to people jumping signals, the city’s traffic issues remain a major concern.
Recently, a Pune resident shared a dashcam video on X, showing multiple vehicles jumping a red light at Wagholi. He wrote, “Another fresh example of today’s blatant violation of traffic rules in Pune. Just a few hours back at BJS Wagholi. No one wants to stop at the signal…” He also tagged the Pune Commissioner of Police and the traffic department.

The video was in response to another viral clip where a biker, without a helmet, crashed into a car. The biker was checking his phone while attempting a right turn from the extreme left lane.
To ease congestion, the Pune Traffic Police has introduced new measures on Ahmednagar Road, between Kharadi and Wagholi. Traffic signals have been removed in some areas to allow vehicles to move freely. This measure is now in effect at Shastrinagar, Wadgaon Sheri, Viman Nagar (Phoenix Mall), and Kharadi Dargah signals.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar recently met with local representatives and senior officials to discuss these changes. The initiative is being implemented on an experimental and pilot project basis.
Despite efforts to manage traffic, reckless driving and rule violations remain a serious issue in Pune. Authorities are urging citizens to follow traffic rules for safer roads.
