Residents angry over frequent power cuts

The residents of NIBM road, Salunke Vihar road, Sahyadri Park, Kondhwa have been struggling to get uninterrupted power supply. But thanks to the poorly maintained electricity supplying equipment, the residents are often forced to live without power supply. 

Harassed with the continuous interruptions caused due to power cuts, the residents today went to meet the executive engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The meeting was organised by local ex corporator Nanda Lonkar alongwith residents of NIBM road, Parge Nagar, Salunke Vihar road. 

The residents apprised him of the problems faced by them due to power cuts. Constant power cut, fluctuation in supply, non functioning of electrical equipment, moisture in cables affecting power supply were some of the main issues raised by the residents. 

Nanda Lonkar, ex corporator, NIBM road, Pune Municipal Corporation, said, “Residents of NIBM road, Salunkhe vihar road, Kondhwa, Parge Nagar have been continuously complaining about power cuts, fluctuation in voltage and other ill maintenance of the electrical equipments. Today, in our meeting we raised these issues with the MSEDCL officials and have asked them to resolve the issues . I have also asked to make the call center of MSEDCL more effective so that the complaints raised by the consumers are attended promptly. Also assured them to help in any infrastructure work related to laying of cables underground, or any other work. ”

Bharat Pawar, Public Relations Officer, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) said, “The local residents had mainly come with problems with power cuts and fluctuation in supply. There are various issues on which MSEDCL is working, beginning from ensuring parallel supply when the power goes off, maintenance of our equipment, ensuring that the complaints are answered. MSEDCL has been working relentlessly to resolve the problems and provide uninterrupted power supply. We are also into planning to lay the overhead cables underground which will solve most of our problems. ”  

Trishla Rane, social activist from Wanowrie and founder of social media group WUNKS said, “Our meeting with the MSEDCL officials was fruitful. They have assured us to resolve most of our problems immediately. We informed them about making the call center more effective so that the complaints are addressed immediately, to which they have agreed. The MSEDCL officials also assured us that the equipment will be maintained regularly.”
