The long pending potholes got leveled as well as city roads got painted and clean. This is not because elections are on the corner but because of Sunday’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune in several areas in West Pune.

As per BJP city unit chief Jagdish Mulik said, “PM Modi will first visit the Pune Municipal Corporation for inauguration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue. We are following the law, guidelines and other protocols that have been laid down for the PM’s visit. There is no expenditure made personally for the PM and its administration that have to take the measures.”

He went on, “Party members and supporters of PM Modi have been asked to follow norms of pandemic as well as protocols. Most of them are asked to be present at MIT college. During his Metro journey PM Modi will be traveling with Divyang citizens in Metro.”

The routes that were used by the PM visit were personally checked, mock trials have been repeatedly taken place by the respective administrative officer along with police and the authorities. For the last one month such work was going on. Certain roads which could bring hurdles in his visit were cleared by working day and night, road dividers on the roads leading to PMC were painted at the last moment, beautification of roads with plants, and pedestrian paths have been done.

Pune Municipal Corporation standing committee chairman Hemant Rasane said, “PM’s visit to PMC is one of the most landmark moments of us and Puneties. The expenditures for such visits are solely taken by administration. We have no role to play.”

After the inaugural, Metro visit as well as visits to MIT College for the meeting, Modi will visit to Paud Road, Sus gaon, Law College Road, Senapati Bapat Road, Vidyapeeth Chowk and return to the helipad at Sinchan nagar.
