Rohit Sharma Named Brand Ambassador For T20 World Cup 2026; What Will Be His Salary? Here's All We Know
The former India captain will promote the tournament across cities as the global cricket event returns next year.
Rohit Sharma has been officially announced as the brand ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2026. The global tournament will be played from February 7 to March 8 next year with 20 teams competing, and Rohit will represent the event in promotional campaigns across stadiums and host cities.
The announcement was made as part of the early build-up to the tournament, marking Rohit’s first major global role after stepping away from T20Is and Tests. For the first time in his career, he will be associated with the World Cup purely as an ambassador, not as a player.
While fans are eager to know how much Rohit will be paid for this position, the financial terms remain confidential. Payments to brand ambassadors are part of private commercial contracts and are not disclosed publicly. The amount is typically based on a player’s market value, endorsement rates and global popularity.
Rohit is known to charge between Rs 3.5 crore and Rs 7 crore for a single endorsement, according to publicly available industry estimates. However, these figures do not directly represent what he will earn for this specific role. Past ambassadors—including cricketers and global sports icons—have also had undisclosed arrangements for similar tournaments.
Rohit recently entered a new phase of his career after retiring from both T20 and Test formats within the same year. Speaking about the change, he reflected on experiencing the World Cup from the outside for the first time, saying that watching matches on television has been a “different experience” after nearly two decades of international cricket.
Statistically, Rohit remains India’s most successful T20 batter, with 4,231 runs from 159 matches. He is followed closely by Virat Kohli, who has 4,188 runs in the format. As one of the most influential figures in Indian cricket, Rohit’s association is expected to strengthen the tournament’s global outreach.
Looking ahead to the 2026 edition, Rohit expressed confidence in the current squad and its leadership. He said he believes the team can repeat their success under Suryakumar Yadav, adding that lifting an ICC trophy is never easy but always special.
