The prestigious society of Pimple Saudagar inaugurated a sports event for the residents on 13 April. This event was inaugurated by Chief Guest and sports enthusiast Sachin Hire, the ACP of Pimpri Chinchwad. He guided the high-spirited kids of the society along with their parents about how sports play an important role in everyone’s lives. The inauguration of this Fiesta saw participants come in huge numbers, children and adults alike.

Playing sports, or doing any physical activity, not only helps a person be physically fit, but also helps them mentally. Something as simple as going for a brisk walk releases endorphins, alternatively known as the “happy hormone”.

The digital age has spared no one from its clutches of consumerism. With every succeeding generation, the one thing that has steadily gone up is screen time. Whether it be content consumption, creation, or engagement in other ways like video games, the time children spend outside, away from fancy gadgets, has started to become obsolete and is a cause of worry for most parents. A similar concern plagued the minds of parents living in Roseland Residency. Therefore, they have described this event as a much-required gift for the kids during the summer vacation. It has lured them away from screens and disengaged them from their digital obsession.

The organisers of the event, namely Tejash Mistry,  Abhay Shukla and Chandan Chourasia, along with society committee members, reiterated the significance of sports in improving both physical and mental health. They stated that inculcating awareness and knowledge about the same is the primary aim of the event. For the next few weeks, all residents, irrespective of age, will engage in numerous sports activities such as skating, basketball, badminton, volleyball, cricket, chess, carrom, etc.

This is not the first time that the society has gone out of its way to ensure a healthy and sustainable lifestyle for its residents. It has, in the past, received accolades for measures taken by the members like sparrow conservation, e-waste management, water conservation and recycling, setting up STPs, etc. Its unconventional way of being more than a luxurious housing society has made it stand out in the city.
