Royal Imperio housing society wins Swachh Survekshan award for following various initiatives to maintain society clean and green

Pimple Saudagar: Swachh Survekshan is an award ceremony organised to appreciate the good work done by people to keep their societies, towns and cities clean. The housing society in Pimple Saudagar, Royal Imperio  was awarded the Swachh Survekshan award for keeping the society clean and for following many environmental-related projects.

Amey Chauhan, Chairman of Royal Imperio cooperative housing society informing about the steps taken by the society to maintain cleanliness said, “We have been awarded Swactha Sarvekashan. Our society member Bhagat Zope took the initial steps to get all the initiatives done in this regard. In the initial phases, we educated all the residents to bifurcate the waste in terms of dry, wet and others. For many years we have been following rainwater harvesting, waste composting, and solid waste management. Also, we have solar panels and fully operational plants.”

A new practice or system needs the support of all residents to be successful. Royal Imperio residents responsibly followed the instructions to keep the society clean.

“The residents were quite responsive and responsible because right from day one we got their support after they knew the segregation of waste was to be done. Initially, they were not responsible but later everyone got used to it and the entire staff, all the residents came together and did a wonderful job to keep society clean and green,” Chauhan said.

The 12 year old society has been following the measures for many years. They have been following the initiative for rainwater harvesting for the last 6 to 7 years and various other measures followed up.

Making an appeal, Chauhan said, “We would say that societies should not only aim to be clean from a segregation of waste management perspective, but they should also aim to be green in all aspects. They should have sewage treatment plants, solar plants, rainwater harvesting, composting plants and solid waste management which will make the society clean.”
