RTO Launches Special Drive To Nab Offenders on Mumbai-Pune Expressway & Pune-Kolhapur Highway

Regional Transport Offices (RTO) of many cities in Maharashtra have launched a drive to identify & nab traffic offenders in the cities on Mumbai-Pune expressway as well as in the cities of Pune-Kolhapur highway.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sanjeev Bhor, Deputy Commissioner, RTO Pune, said “We have begun this drive on Mumbai-Pune expressway from the beginning of October 2023. The RTO squads of Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Panvel and Pen cities are involved in it. We had done this earlier for 6 months. Offences such as lane cutting, drunk & drive, excess speed, wrongly parked vehicles on expressway and more would be inspected by the RTO squads on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The offenders caught on the expressway will be taken to Advice Rooms established on toll plazas where they will be advised & explained about road safety etc.”

Sanjeev Bhor further added “We have also begun this same drive on Pune-Kolhapur highway. The RTO squads of Pune, Satara, Karad, Sangli & Kolhapur are involved in it. Similar offences just like on Mumbai-Pune expressway like lane cutting, drunk & drive, helmet wearing etc would be inspected. Just like on Mumbai-Pune expressway, the same procedure about advising & explaining about road safety etc would be done on the toll plazas coming on Pune-Kolhapur highway.”

As per further information by Sanjeev Bhor, only RTO squads are conducting this entire drive. A total of 4 RTO officers are present in each RTO squad where 2 officers would inspect & nab offenders & 2 officers would be advising & explaining the offenders about road safety etc.
