Sahyadri Pratishthan Hindustan organizes artifacts and weapons exhibition from Shivkaalin era

Sahyadri Pratishthan Hindustan, under the guidance of founder Shramik Gojamgunde, has started an amazing exhibition called ‘Marathyanche Shastrakar Parva 2’ displaying weapons, arms and much more from pre-Shivaji Maharaj era, Shivaji Maharaj’s era till the reign of the Britishers.

This wonderful exhibition is open from July 26 to July 31 from 10 am to 8 pm at Balgandharva Art Gallery, Deccan, Pune.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Akshay Undre, Member of Sahyadri Pratishthan Hindustan, said, ” We are organizing this exhibition for the second time. Our first exhibition called ‘Marathyanche Shastrakar Parva 1’ was held in 2019. We got an amazing response with over 4 to 4.5 lakh history lovers who witnessed this magnanimous work. We showcased the weapons, arms and other things used by warriors who fought for ‘Swarajya’ along with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, protecting Swarajya along with Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, warriors of Panipat war and many more. The heirs of all these warriors, who are preserving their weapons till date, have given them to us for the exhibition. Along with the weapons, we are providing detailed information about all these warriors & their history to make people aware about them & also to arouse interest for history among the people.”

Ranjitsinh Garud Deshmukh, heir of the ‘gharana’ who lost 3 members in the Battle of Panipat in 1761 said, “We have shown the gifts of four towns given to our family by Maratha general Mahadaji Shinde & Malharrao Holkar. Our gharana was the first to enter Delhi during the war. After that, for 20 to 25 years, the Marathas ruled Delhi among which our gharana was a prime one. We have displayed the sword that had a place with one of the Mughal sovereigns which was taken when the Marathas conquered Delhi in 1771. My extraordinary grandfather’s robes with gold zardozi work, which he wore to go to the Gwalior Darbar around 250 years ago and different things.”

Other than this, around 200 to 250 weapons of all the brave Maratha warriors have been showcased in this exhibition. Rare items of old times, copper plates, charters, clothes, orders, seals and along with this, authentic jewellery of Sardars, Shiledars etc have been exhibited.

Abhay Raj Shirole, Bhamburda Pune Patil said, “Seven warriors from our family sacrificed their lives in the Panipat war.   Deshmukh further said that Abhay Raj Shirole’s Family and Deshmukh Family have been part of the Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj era and Deshmukh and Shirole are the 13th descendant’s of their families.
