Saraswati Puja held in Wanowrie

Basant Panchami, or Saraswati Puja, as celebrated by Bengalis the world over was on 5th February this year. Grand celebrations were held of Saraswati Puja by Bengali Community across Pune city.

Anandam Association, Pune – the socio-cultural Bengali Club of Pune, with members from in and around Salunke Vihar Road, Wanowari, NIBM, Hadapsar and neighboring areas decided to celebrate the Goddess of Knowledge, who flies on the swan and holds a Veena – Goddess Saraswati by organizing the Saraswati Puja only for its members and their families.

Just like Durga Puja was celebrated following all COVID protocols, Saraswati Puja was celebrated following all COVID protocols.

Women and children dressed in various shades of yellow enjoyed the puja rituals and connected with each other again, face to face after a long time.

Anandam had arranged for bhog for lunch for its club members at no cost. The bhog comprised of the ever so delicious khichdi, labda (mix veg), beguni (brinjal fritters), tomato chatni, papad and gur rosogolla.

Corporator Nanda Lonkar paid a visit and sought the goddesses’ blessings. The Club’s President Amitava Saha, Club Secretary Reena Pradhan, Vice President Radhika Akolkar and Treasurer Subhadip Niyogi were present to welcome Nanda Lonkar. She interacted with members and also enjoyed bhog. Here’s hoping that this year is a healthy, happy and safe year for all.
