Pune 15 December 2023: Concluding day two, well-known vocalist Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande left audiences spellbound with her performance at the 69th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav being held at the Maharashtriya Mandal Krida Sankul at Mukund Nagar yesterday. 

Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, from the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, is the daughter and disciple of veteran vocal artist Manik Bhide, who in turn was a disciple of Gaan Saraswati Kishori Amonkar. She struck a chord with the music connoisseurs with her renditions in Raag Kafi Kanada with a Bandish ‘Layi re madhpiya’ in Vilambit Tritaal followed by a rendition from the Haveli tradition ‘Kanha kuvar ke’ in Drut Teentaal.

She then presented a Bandish in a rare Raag Godhani in medium-paced Zaptaal, followed by a Bandish ‘Piharava more ghar aaye’ in Drut Ektaal. She concluded the day with a Bhajan ‘Saiyan Nikas Gaye’ in Raag Bhairavi and Taal Keherwa

She was accompanied by Suyog Kundalkar on Harmonium, Bharat Kamat on Tabla with Tanpura, and Vocal accompaniment by Shamika Bhide and Swarangi Marathe.
