Pune: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)  Party had launched an aggressive agitation in Maharashtra to have boards in Marathi on shops and various establishments. After that, some traders knocked on the door of the court against it. However, the Supreme Court has ordered to put Marathi boards on the shops in the next two months. In this background, Raj Thackeray thanked the court and issued a warning to the traders.

Speaking on the issue, Raj Thackeray, President, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena from his X handle said, “The Supreme Court has given a clear verdict that Marathi boards should be put up on the shops and establishments in Maharashtra within the next 2 months. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s struggle for the issue of ‘Marathi Patya’ for the past several years has been recognized by today’s decision.”

As per further information, from his X handle, Thackeray said that when there is such a simple rule that shops and establishments should have signs in that language in the language of the state, why did a handful of traders take this fight to the court by opposing it? If someone is in Maharashtra, he/she is Marathi. Then, what is there to be opposed to having boards in that language or honouring that language in that place? If anyone comes here to Maharashtra for business, he/she must respect the language here. Anyway, Maharashtra people have fought on this issue, and now the Supreme Court has also slapped a handful of traders on this. Every shop and establishment in Maharashtra needs bold Marathi signboards, and it is now the job of the municipal administration and to some extent the police administration to see to it.

The shopkeepers should not fall into the trap and respect the court’s decision and the government here will be watching, it will take action, he further stated.
