Selfless Service: Kondhwa Firefighter Dedicates Birthday to Work and Saving Lives

In a remarkable display of dedication and promptness, Fireman Dashrath Malvadkar, a seasoned firefighter from Kondhwa Budruk Fire Station, Pune, proved that duty comes first, even on one’s birthday. Celebrating his 54th birthday today, Fireman Malvadkar has served in the fire brigade for an impressive 22 years.

Early in the morning, as the city was waking up to a new day, a fire broke out in Kausar Bagh, Kondhwa, engulfing a small godown and a garage. The fire brigade immediately sprung into action, dispatching fire engines from Kondhwa Budruk and Kondhwa Khurd to the location. Recognizing the magnitude of the inferno, additional fire tenders were rushed to the scene.

Fireman Malvadkar was on his way to morning prayers when he received word of the fire incident. Despite his family’s urging to take leave on his special day, he exemplified the true spirit of a firefighter by declaring, “duty is first even on birthday.” Understanding the urgency of the situation, he promptly left for the fire station without taking any time off and immediately got to work.

His colleagues at the scene, including Fire officers Sameer Shaikh, Pankaj Jagtap, Sunil Naiknaware, Kailas Shinde, and other personnel, took a moment to wish him on his birthday and showered praise on his exemplary dedication to duty. The quick response and efficient efforts of the entire team averted potential disaster, and they successfully extinguished the fire. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.
