Senior journalist Pankaj Khelkar passed away due to heart attack

Pankaj Khelkar (aged 52), former correspondent of ‘Aaj Tak’ and ‘India Today’ news channels in Pune and senior journalist, passed away due to cardiac arrest on Monday night. He lived in Sindh Society at Pashan. He was admitted to a private hospital after suffering a heart attack. However, he was declared dead there. Khelkar is a native of Akola and has been associated with the national news channel ‘Aaj Tak’ in Pune for the past several years.

Pankaj Khelkar was working in the journalism industry for the last 20 to 22 years. He was working in Aaj Tak for last 18 years and recently resigned and joined MIT in Pune. He has held the post of Associate Editor at India Today Group. He has also held responsibility as Pune Bureau.

Apart from this, he has reported on various topics in Western Maharashtra and Marathwada till date. Khelkar had experience in film production since 1992 and has also produced documentaries and short films. For Aaj Tak, Pankaj Khelkar has reported on various topics like social, political, sports, environment, crime.

He has highlighted many issues like Telgi scam, German bakery blast reporting, Anna Hazare movement for Lokpal Act and also during Corona period. He studied Journalism from Symbiosis, Pune. He was interested in many subjects like writing, digital videography, video editing.
