Shark Tank India Season 4: Entrepreneur Who Left US Job for Plant Business Secures ₹1 Crore Investment
The 9th episode of Shark Tank India Season 4 introduced a unique twist. Two startups with similar business ideas—Nurturing Green and Kyari — pitched back-to-back, with the order decided by a toss. Lucknow-based Nurturing Green, founded by Annu Grover, went first.
Annu’s journey started in 2010 when his mother discarded a bouquet he sent from abroad. This inspired him to begin gifting plants instead of flowers. His startup now spans plant gifting, home decor, and gardening.
- – Plants are grown in tissue culture labs and controlled polyhouses across 70 acres.
- – An 8-step quality process ensures premium plants, backed by a lifetime warranty. Customers can replace plants at 50% cost.
- – Products range between ₹99 and ₹4,999.
The company reported sales of ₹17 crore (April-October 2024) and targets ₹28 crore this fiscal year. Previous sales were ₹13.8 crore (2023-24) and ₹11.8 crore (2022-23). By 2026, Annu aims to achieve ₹100 crore revenue.
In 2019, Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma invested ₹50 lakh at a valuation of ₹37.5 crore. Annu owns 68% equity. Annu’s path as an entrepreneur was filled with obstacles. When he chose to abandon a promising career overseas to pursue his plant business, his father strongly opposed the decision and even stopped speaking to him at first.
On Shark Tank, Annu sought ₹1 crore for 1% equity. Judge Vinita Singh invested ₹50 lakh for 1.25% equity and gave ₹50 lakh as a loan at 10% interest for three years. The deal valued the company at ₹40 crore.
With strong growth and innovative ideas, Nurturing Green continues to make its mark in the plant gifting market.
