Shatrughan Kate Claims Candidacy for MLA, Appeals to Party for Justice
On Sunday, July 14, 2024, a meeting was held by Shatrughan Kate with his supporters at the Basuri Banquet Hall in Pimple Saudagar. The gathering saw the presence of over 2,500 attendees.
As the winds of the Chinchwad Assembly elections begin to blow, aspirants are gearing up for their campaigns. The most talked-about name currently is Shatrughan Kate. Known as a staunch supporter of the late MLA Laxmanbhau Jagtap, Kate has served as a councilor for two terms with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Despite his vision for development, the BJP has repeatedly overlooked Kate, denying him positions like mayor twice and the chairman of the standing committee once, even when he was a favored candidate.
However, questions are now being raised among the supporters about how long the party will continue this injustice. There is growing discontent within the party, with concerns about whether important positions are monopolized by a single family. In meeting in Kate’s stronghold, his supporters emphatically called for him to run in the upcoming Assembly elections, urging him to contest for the Chinchwad MLA seat. In response, Shatrughan Kate assured them, saying, “There’s no turning back now,” signaling his readiness to contest.
He also made it clear that if the party does not entrust him with an opportunity, he will soon discuss and decide on his future strategy with all his supporters.
