Shiv Jayanti Celebrations at Shivneri In Pune: Check Road Closures, Parking Arrangements, and Travel Routes
Pune: Shiv Jayanti, a significant festival in Maharashtra, is set to be celebrated with grandeur across the state on February 19, 2025, marking the birth anniversary of the legendary warrior king, Shivaji Maharaj. Known for his military prowess and innovative administration, Shivaji Maharaj’s birth at Shivneri Fort in Junnar has drawn thousands of his followers to the historic fort every year for the celebrations. To ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain law and order during this period, the Pune District Collector, Jitendra Dudi, has issued specific traffic arrangements, including road closures and alternate routes, in and around Junnar.
The traffic restrictions will be enforced from 8 AM on February 18 to midnight on February 20, 2025. During this time, Junnar city and its surrounding areas will experience a one-way traffic system. This is part of an effort to accommodate the thousands of pilgrims and devotees who will be visiting the fort to honor Shivaji Maharaj.
As per the traffic management plan, vehicles traveling from Narayangaon towards Junnar will be diverted via the Ghodegaon Phata, Khanapur College, and Dhamankhel route, which leads to the Tathed parking lot. Once their visit is complete, vehicles will exit via the Vadaj-Savargaon-Warulwadi-Narayangaon-Ghodegaon route. For those approaching Shivneri Fort via Ganeshkhind-Bankaphata-Otur, the designated parking area will be at Mundhe Secondary School and the nearby vicinity. These vehicles will then proceed along the Kalyan-Ahilyanagar-Nashik, Aptale-Somatwadi Tal routes for their return journey.
Additionally, for vehicles coming from Junnar, a circular route will be set up. Vehicles will take the circular route starting from in front of Hotel Shivba to the Tathed parking lot, then return via Vadaj.
These travel arrangements are designed to ensure that the large number of visitors can access the Shivneri Fort while minimizing traffic congestion and ensuring the safety of those attending the celebrations. Local authorities have also encouraged people to follow the designated routes and parking guidelines to facilitate a smooth flow of traffic during the festival.
As Maharashtra gears up for the Shiv Jayanti celebrations, authorities are hopeful that these measures will provide both convenience and safety for the public while honoring the legacy of the Maratha king.
