We all turn to the internet for answers, from fixing a leaky faucet to learning a new recipe. But when it comes to our health, relying on online tutorials can be incredibly dangerous.

A 32-year-old man named Raja Babu was admitted to a hospital in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, after attempting to perform surgery on himself. He had been suffering from severe abdominal pain for days and, despite consulting multiple doctors, his condition didn’t improve.

Desperate for relief, Raja Babu turned to YouTube videos, purchased medication from a medical store, and then tried to operate on himself based on what he saw online. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and his family had to rush him to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Raja Babu’s pain got so bad that he went to Mathura and bought a surgical blade, stitching materials, and anesthetic injections. He decided to operate on himself, using what he had learned from watching YouTube videos. On Wednesday morning, he started the surgery in his room.

The anesthetic wore off, and he was in excruciating pain. He ran outside screaming, and his family, shocked and horrified, rushed him to the hospital. His nephew Rahul told that Raja Babu had performed the surgery on himself after watching YouTube videos.

Raja Babu’s nephew, Rahul, explained that his uncle had previously undergone appendix surgery 18 years ago. The recent abdominal pain had been persistent, and despite seeing multiple doctors, there was no improvement. Desperate for relief, Raja Babu took matters into his own hands and decided to treat himself. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and he was referred to Agra’s SN Hospital for further treatment.
