On voting day in Pune, having an inked finger can unlock a host of discounts and freebies at various establishments. Over 450 restaurants in the city are offering a 10% discount on food to anyone who shows their inked finger. Additionally, the Petrol Dealers’ Association in Pune is providing an extra Rs 50 worth of fuel to voters upon a minimum purchase of one litre, valid until May 20.

But the benefits extend beyond dining and refueling. In Lohegaon, a housing society has announced a discount of Rs 100 on the monthly maintenance fee for every flat owner who casts their vote. Grahak Peth is offering free tea and cream rolls to voters between 7am to 10am on voting day, ensuring a refreshing treat for those exercising their democratic right.

Various associations are also stepping up to encourage voter turnout. The Poona Hoteliers’ Association is granting employees leave to allow them to travel to their home constituencies to vote. Meanwhile, the Rickshaw Panchayat Autorickshaw Union is providing free rides to senior citizens and the physically disabled in Pimpri Chinchwad to facilitate their journey to polling stations.

Similarly, the Azad Autorickshaw Union in Kondhwa is offering complimentary rides to and from polling booths for senior citizens and those with physical disabilities.

Additionally, the Pune Bus and Car Owners’ Association is spreading voting awareness through posters and messages on buses, urging passengers to participate in the electoral process. While they are unable to offer discounts due to pending issues with the RTO, their efforts aim to encourage civic engagement and voter participation.
