Pimpri-Chinchwad, April 8, 2026: A public bicycle sharing project was inaugurated at Linear Garden in Pimple Saudagar under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Smart City initiative, marking a significant step towards sustainable urban mobility.

The project, implemented by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in collaboration with Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Ltd. and startup Pre-Vai, was inaugurated by corporators Shatrughan (Bapu) Kate and Vitthal (Nana) Kate.

The event was attended by corporators Kunda Bhise and Anita Kate, along with senior civic officials including Acting City Engineer Manoj Sethia, Deputy City Engineer Bapu Gaikwad, Executive Engineer Sunil Pawar, and Public Relations Officer Prafull Puranik, besides local residents.

The initiative has been developed under the guidance of Mayor Ravi Landge, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi. Officials stated that Pimpri-Chinchwad is among eight cities selected globally from 66 countries for implementing such an advanced mobility project.

Founded by Nikhil Deshmukh and Pratyush Srinivasan, the project aims to provide citizens with an affordable, convenient, and eco-friendly option for short-distance travel. Notably, the system is designed as per European standards and follows international protocols, including IEC 62196-4 for DC charging.

The project is also part of an international energy initiative, with monitoring and technical guidance from global experts, including specialists from Germany.
