Pune: Over the past decade, MLA Mahesh Landge has resolved numerous pending issues and spearheaded several developmental projects for Pimpri-Chinchwad. In every legislative session, he has persistently advocated for various demands, leading to their approval. Notable achievements include the revocation of penalty taxes, halting utility fee collections, and securing a 12.5% land return for affected residents. These efforts reflect MLA Landge’s commitment to the community, according to construction entrepreneur and social activist Nilesh Newale.

Nilesh Newale highlighted that MLA Landge is a proactive legislator. During the Congress-NCP alliance government in Maharashtra, a penalty tax was imposed on unauthorized constructions, which Landge successfully overturned. He also managed to put a hold on utility fees and arranged a 12.5% land return for farmers whose lands were acquired between 1972 and 1984. Further, Landge facilitated projects to alleviate the local waste crisis, including the “waste-to-energy” initiative at Moshi, offering relief to residents.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Court Complex Progresses

Previously, the Pimpri court operated in a rented facility with no permanent site. Due to Maheshdada Landge’s efforts, a new court complex is being established in Sector 12 with secured funding. Additionally, the Indian Institute of Management is being set up in Moshi, while a new COP (Commissioner of Police) office is rising in Sector 14 at Jadhavwadi, with Landge playing a pivotal role in these initiatives. His push for an independent Police Commissionerate has helped curb crime in the city. Landge has also undertaken the necessary provisions for making Pimpri-Chinchwad an independent district, Newale added.

Maheshdada Landge’s Contributions to Education and Sports

MLA Landge has contributed significantly to the education and sports sectors. His efforts have introduced facilities for wrestling, kabaddi, rifle shooting, and other sports. Pimpri-Chinchwad, situated between Dehu and Alandi, has also benefited from the establishment of a Sant Peeth, an institute promoting saint literature to enlighten the younger generation. Remarkably, saint literature on Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj is taught in English, introducing their philosophy to a global audience. Newale believes these achievements ensure Landge’s re-election for a third term.

Feedback on Water Supply and Healthcare

“In the past, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation depended solely on Pavana Dam for water supply, with no strategic planning for the growing population. Maheshdada Landge arranged additional water supply from the Andra and Bhama Askhed projects, enhancing future water management in the city. Newale also noted that Landge facilitated an 850-bed hospital project at Moshi. After the Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital in Sant Tukaram Nagar, this will be the city’s largest hospital, providing essential healthcare services to residents” – Nilesh Newale, Social Activist
